I don't think my monitor shows true colors on this - - but it's going to be FAB. are you going to do one of those cords through your jacket sleeves so you don't loose it? ;0 Perhaps it will be so insulated by the roses when finished it won't need an inside? If not, still ready to help with polarfleece sewing know-how.
Oh, I *love* the idea of the cord, just like little kids' mittens. I've decided that it needs some kind of fabric with a really deep pile so that there's very little room inside and your hands can get really toasty. I mean, the thing will weigh about 7 pounds, and you're right, lining might be redundant, but I figure I might as well go whole-hog. Nearly done with the roses. New pix coming soon.
Ha! Kids and mittens was exactly what I was thinking! 7 lbs? wow. Think of it this way - it will be like doing continuous bicep curls, only with style! :)
I'm not sure about really deep pile, unles you want to get into fake fur, but there's a fabric called minkee that's ultra-soft. We're talking soft. Sinfully soft. Check it out - http://www.thecalicocat.com/fabricsmisc.htm
Yeah, and since it doesn't have long fibers, I think you just bunch it up in there, you know? If the muff is 12" long, then use 20", and just stuff the extra in there. If I make it this summer, (or if you come here) we can look at some if you like, and I can help you install it. That reminds me, get tickets yet?
My husband just stumbled across your site because of the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah reference in your profile (his current music obsession) and we've been reading your posts and laughing. We're glad your brain didn't kill you!
As my wife said, I came across your site by following the "Clap Your Hands..." link, and may I just say, don't they just rule?! AND I'm currently about 1/2 way through "Time Traveller's Wife" and I see you loved it too (and yes, Dan Simmons ROCKS! -- I was bummed to hear that he's not doing anymore Joe Kurtz detective novels :(
Anyhow, appreciated your humor in your links as well!
